Frederique Constant – Felipao Edition
Frederique Constant celebrated the launch of its first limited edition dedicated to Spain and designed by the artist Felipao on 11 May in Madrid.
Niels Eggerding, CEO of the Geneva-based manufacturer, acted as master of ceremonies at the presentation of the Highlife Automatic COSC x Felipao Limited Edition, which took place in the artist’s studio in the Spanish capital.
The event was attended by friends of the brand and dealers, watch and art collectors, as well as a large group of journalists. They were joined by connoisseurs of the NFT universe convened by the Barcelona agency Vottun, the pioneering platform that traces and certifies data using blockchain technology, which has collaborated in this Limited Edition.
“Frederique Constant is honoured to have collaborated with the Spanish artist Felipao, for whose work we have great admiration. We feel fortunate to have shared with him the creation of the first special edition for Spain and the first watch inspired by the world of art. We both share common values based on making art and watchmaking accessible and bringing happiness to as many people as possible”. Niels Eggerding, CEO of Frederique Constant.
The renewed Highlife collection has been chosen for the personal interpretation of the Spanish sculptor Felipao. It is a limited and numbered edition of 100 pieces, presented in a 41 mm diameter polished and satin-brushed steel tripartite case with a striking blue polyhedral ceramic dial designed by Felipao. The dial combines three symbols representing three important moments in history: the present, represented by the peace emoticon, the 6, inherited from Arabic numerals, and the X from Roman numerals.
This unique and charismatic collaboration has focused on the Highlife Automatic COSC model, the brand’s best-selling model featuring a modern design in line with a young audience interested in the Metaverse and NFT. Felipao has left his artistic mark on the polyhedral design of the dial and strap, and all the watches will be accompanied by a numbered NFT created by the Barcelona agency Vottun (which allows the owner a series of advantages when acquiring special pieces or participating in events organised by and at the Manufacture) and a small sculpture of his characteristic polyhedral “Menina”.
